What does this fault code mean?
Although the fault code is named faulty signal, it applies to communication with the glow plug relay. The engine control module controls the glow plugs through the relay and stores the fault code when it detects a communication fault. The fault may be caused by poor contact in the connectors or a damaged relay.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged glow plug relay
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors at the glow plug relay are secure and clean
- 2Check that the connectors have no looseness or oxidation, since contact resistance can cause communication faults
- 3Replace the glow plug relay if the connectors are sound but the fault remains
- 4Clear the fault code after the work and start the engine to see whether it returns
