What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module controls the function of the glow plugs and registers a fault when that function does not work as it should. The fault may be caused by poor contact in the connectors, an open circuit in the signal wire, a damaged glow plug relay or a damaged glow plug.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged glow plug relay
- Damaged glow plug
What you can do
- 1Clean and tighten the connectors at the glow plugs and the relay if they are oxidised
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is intact and has no open circuit
- 3Have a workshop measure the resistance of each glow plug
- 4Replace whichever glow plug or relay shows a fault in the measurement
Symptoms you may notice2
- A message appears in the text display
- The engine is hard to start when cold
