What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives glow plug 1 and stores the fault code when it finds a fault in that particular glow plug. The fault may be caused by poor contact in the connectors, an open circuit in the signal wire or a damaged glow plug relay.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged glow plug relay
What you can do
- 1Check that the connections and wiring are secure, with no play, contact resistance or oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wire between the glow plug relay and glow plug 1 has no open circuit
- 3Have a workshop measure the resistance of each glow plug
- 4Replace the glow plug relay or the glow plug if damaged, then clear the fault code
Symptoms you may notice2
- A message appears in the text display
- The engine is hard to start when cold
