What does this fault code mean?
Glow plug 3 is driven through the glow plug relay. The fault code is stored when the engine control module detects a fault in the control of that particular glow plug. The cause may lie in the connectors, in an open signal wire or in the glow plug relay.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged glow plug relay
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors at glow plug 3 are secure and free of play
- 2Check the connectors for contact resistance and oxidation, and clean them if needed
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to glow plug 3 is intact with no open circuit
- 4If the connectors and wiring are sound but the fault remains, the glow plug relay may be damaged. Have a workshop assess it
