What does this fault code mean?
The fault code concerns the signal to the glow plug relay, which the engine control module uses to heat the glow plugs. The cause may lie in the connections, where contact resistance, oxidation or an open circuit can produce the fault, or in the relay itself.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or open circuit in the connections
- Damaged glow plug relay
What you can do
- 1Check the connector contacts for open circuits, play and oxidation
- 2With the ignition off, disconnect the connectors and reconnect them so they sit firmly
- 3If the connections are sound but the fault remains, the relay is probably damaged. Have a workshop assess it
- 4After the repair, clear the code and take the car for a short test drive
