What does this fault code mean?
During adaptation the engine control module has found that the exhaust camshaft position lies behind the crankshaft. The fault code is stored and control is switched off.
Possible causes
- Poor oil quality
- Camshafts incorrectly adjusted
- The timing belt has jumped over the teeth
- Damaged reset valve for the exhaust camshaft
- Mechanical fault in the VVT unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the oil level is correct and that the oil is clean and of the right grade
- 2Have a workshop check the engine oil pressure, since it affects the VVT control
- 3Have a workshop adjust the camshaft basic setting and read the adaptation again at warm idle
- 4Have a workshop check that the timing belt is seated correctly and that the reset valve has not stuck
- 5If the fault remains after all the work, the VVT unit may be defective, which a workshop will judge
