What does this fault code mean?
The fault code is stored when the engine control module detects a fault in the intake regulation during the burning of soot particles in the particulate filter. The throttle unit is normally open, but is then used to regulate the intake air.
Possible causes
- Air leak in the intake system
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Sticking EGR valve
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Check whether other fault codes are stored. These should be dealt with first, since this code can result from faults in other functions
- 2Check the connectors at the EGR valve and the throttle unit for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check that the EGR valve and the throttle plate can be closed and opened fully without sticking, since dirt and soot can make them jam
- 4Look for leaks and damage in the intake system
- 5Have a workshop repair the fault or replace the part that is damaged
