What does this fault code mean?
Although the fault code is named EGR control, flow too high, it applies to the intake regulation with the throttle unit when soot particles are burned. The throttle unit is normally open but is used during that process to regulate the intake air. The fault code is stored when the control module finds a fault in that regulation.
Possible causes
- Leak in the intake system
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connectors
- EGR valve that sticks
- Broken throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Other stored fault codes should be dealt with first, since this code may come from faults in other engine functions
- 2Check the connectors at the EGR valve and at the throttle unit for play and oxidation
- 3Check that the throttle and the EGR valve move freely, since soot and dirt can make them stick
- 4Look at the seal ring and gasket of the EGR valve and check for damage
- 5Have a workshop repair the fault and replace any part that is damaged
