What does this fault code mean?
The fault code is set when the transition back to normal operation after burning soot particles takes too long. The fault may lie in the intake system, in the connectors, in the EGR valve or in the throttle unit.
Possible causes
- Leak in the intake system
- Oxidised or poorly making connectors
- EGR valve that sticks
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1If other fault codes are stored, deal with them first. This code may then be a consequence of them
- 2Check the connectors at the EGR valve and the throttle unit
- 3Check that the EGR valve can be closed and opened fully. Soot and dirt can make it stick
- 4Look for leaks and damage in the inlet system
- 5Replace the throttle unit or the EGR valve if either is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- A message appears in the display
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
