What does this fault code mean?
The turbocharger (TC) control valve regulates boost together with the wastegate valve, and the code indicates that boost is too high. The fault may be permanent, meaning it is present now, or intermittent, meaning it only appears from time to time. The causes lie in hoses, in valves and in the wastegate valve's pressure servo.
Possible causes
- Hoses between the turbocharger and the turbocharger (TC) control valve have come loose or are blocked or damaged
- Hoses between the turbocharger (TC) control valve and the pressure servo have come loose or are blocked or damaged
- Faulty turbocharger (TC) control valve
- Faulty pressure servo for the wastegate valve
- Sticking wastegate valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the hoses between the turbocharger, the turbocharger (TC) control valve and the pressure servo are not pinched, blocked or damaged
- 3With a diagnostic tool, activate the turbocharger (TC) control valve and listen for a click
- 4Check that the wastegate valve's pressure servo works and that the wastegate valve does not stick
- 5If the hoses and valves are intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the setting of the wastegate valve
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- Boost pressure may be lower than normal
