What does this fault code mean?
The ECM drives the turbo control motor with a pulse-width modulated signal. If the module finds a problem with the signal feeding the turbo control system, the code is set, and it is checked with the engine running. The fault may be due to poor contact at the connections, an open circuit in the signal or supply wire, a damaged turbo control motor or an internal fault in the control module.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the power supply
- Damaged turbo control motor
- Internal fault inside the ECM itself
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car with the engine running to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connections for contact resistance, loose contact and oxidation
- 3With the ignition off and the connector disconnected, use a multimeter to check that the supply and signal wires are intact
- 4Check that the fuses for the turbocharger control system are intact
- 5If the wiring is intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the turbo control motor and the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice2

- Poor performance
