Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the charge air cooler bypass valve and drives it open and closed. If the module registers that the valve binds or sticks when it is driven, with the ignition on, the code is set. The cause lies in the control valve at the inlet, which may bind, stick or be damaged.
Possible causes
- Control valve at the inlet binds or has stuck
- Damaged control valve at the inlet
What you can do
- 1Inspect the bypass valve visually for damage and dirt that could make it bind or stick
- 2Read the code, clear it and road test the car; if it returns, have a workshop try replacing the charge air cooler bypass valve
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
