What does this fault code mean?
The interlock is a start inhibitor for cars with a manual gearbox. The engine control module (ECM) checks the control signal wire between itself and the VGLA control module, which handles central locking and the alarm. When the signal is missing, the code is set.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors on the engine control module and the VGLA control module for contact resistance and oxidation, and look to see that they are seated
- 2Reconnect the connectors and try to start the car; if it then works, the fault was most likely contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- 3If the connectors are clean and secure but the car still will not start, have a workshop check the signal wire
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start
