What does this fault code mean?
The immobilizer code in the engine control module (ECM) must match the code in the central electronic module (CEM), and the check is made before the engine is allowed to start. If the engine control module is found to be unprogrammed, or to have an internal fault, the code is set with the ignition on. In this variant, a damaged engine control module is the cause.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors to the engine control module are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 2If no other fault is found, have a workshop try a new engine control module
- 3After the work, start the engine and check that the immobilizer releases and the code does not return
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine cranks but will not start
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
