What does this fault code mean?
The immobilizer code in the engine control module (ECM) is compared with the central electronic module (CEM), and the hardware serial number of the brake control module (BCM) is checked over the CAN network before the engine may start. If the engine control module detects an internal fault in itself with the ignition on, the code is set. The engine then does not start.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors on the engine control module are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 2Because the fault lies in the engine control module, replacing it is a workshop job
- 3After the work, start the engine and check that the immobilizer works
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine cranks but will not start
