What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors its internal functions. If it registers a functional fault that requires the module to be restarted, the code is set with the ignition on or the engine running. The cause may be faulty software downloaded into the module, or damage to the module.
Possible causes
- Wrong software was loaded into the ECM
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check that the engine control module has the correct and latest software for that specific car, since this needs programming equipment
- 2If the fault remains after new software has been loaded, have a workshop replace the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
