What does this fault code mean?
The temperature sensor in the engine control module (ECM) has returned a value the module does not trust. The fault covers a large number of V70, S60, S70, S80 and C70 models. If the air intake to the control module box is blocked, the electric cooling fan runs at reduced speed.
Possible causes
- The air supply is blocked
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the air intake to the control module box is free from dirt and debris
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the control module temperature value in live data and check that it follows the outside temperature
- 4Check that the fuses for the engine control module are intact
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensor and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The electric cooling fan runs at reduced speed
