What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has registered a signal from the temperature sensor inside the module that is too low. The code is caused by a damaged engine control module. The electric cooling fan is then activated at a predefined speed.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition on and wait a while before reading the code, so that the diagnosis has time to run
- 2Check whether the code is active or only stored, and that it is not active when the test is finished
- 3If the code is not active after the road test, it may have been stored from an earlier occasion, and you can then clear it
- 4Check the battery voltage and that the fuses for the engine control module are intact
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop replace the engine control module and program it
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The electric cooling fan is activated at a predefined speed
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
