What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) stores information about the vehicle variant internally, and the code is set when the variant coding does not match. The fault may show a message in the information display. The fault should be traced in the central electronic module (CEM).
Possible causes
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM)
- Incorrect coding of the vehicle variant
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and switch the ignition on again to see whether it returns
- 2Check the battery voltage and that the fuses for the engine control module and the central electronic module are intact
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the code in the central electronic module and see whether any other codes are stored there
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the coding and the central electronic module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Message in the information display
