What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has checked its automatic function for shutting down the engine and found a fault in it. The code is caused by a damaged engine control module and applies to the C30, C70 (06-), S40 (04-), S60 (-09), V50, V70, V70 XC and XC90.

- Damaged engine control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the status of the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fault is not active after the road test; if it is not active, it may have been stored on an earlier occasion
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether the engine control module has any other stored codes that must be remedied first
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the engine control module and program it
