What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module treats a supply voltage that stays too low for a set time as a fault, and the immobilizer fault code is then set. The check is made before the engine is allowed to start. The fault applies to the C30, C70 (06-), S40 (04-) and V50, and the engine will not start.
Possible causes
- Low battery
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
- Break or noise on the link between the CEM and the ECM
- Faulty CAN communication
What you can do
- 1Check the battery voltage, since a weak voltage can cause the fault
- 2Check that you are using the correct ignition key, and try another key if you have one
- 3Look for loose or corroded contacts at the engine control module
- 4Using a multimeter, check that the communication wire between the CEM and the ECM is not broken
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the CAN communication
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine will not start
