What does this fault code mean?
The ECM monitors the feed through the system relay and has logged a faulty signal. The cause may be a faulty charging system, contact resistance in the connections or a damaged system relay. The starter cranks but the engine will not run, and the injectors are switched off.
Possible causes
- Faulty charging system
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged system relay
What you can do
- 1Check the battery voltage and condition
- 2Check the fuse for the circuit; if it is blown, check that the circuit is not shorted to ground
- 3Check that the connectors at the engine control module and the system relay are secure and clean
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the relay's voltage feed to the ECM in live data
- 5If no fault is found, have a workshop try a new system relay
Symptoms you may notice1
- The starter cranks but the engine will not run
What the fault can affect1
- The injectors are switched off
