What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the supply circuit for the voltage to some of the engine sensors and sets the code when the voltage is too low. The fault is intermittent: it has occurred on an earlier occasion but is not present right now. The low signal is caused by a short to ground in the supply wire that comes and goes.
Possible causes
- Intermittent short to ground in the supply wire
What you can do
- 1Go through the wiring for chafing or damage where the cable can touch ground
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire has no contact with ground (the body), and move the cable while measuring
- 3Check the connectors in the supply circuit for oxidation and loose fit
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, follow the sensor supply voltage in live data during a road test and see whether it suddenly drops
- 5Repair as needed, clear the code and road test the car to see whether it comes back
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor performance and lack of power
- The engine may stall, and it can happen at any time
