What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to the sensor supply in the engine when the voltage is too high. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the supply with the ignition on and stores the code if it is out of range. The sensors need the correct voltage to report accurate values, so the fault can affect how the car runs.
Possible causes
- The supply wire to a sensor is in contact with voltage
- Damaged sensor
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and check whether it returns after a road test
- 2Check the sensor supply wire for chafing where it may have touched voltage; use a multimeter to confirm it is not connected to battery voltage
- 3Check the sensor connectors for loose fit and oxidation
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check each sensor separately before suspecting the control module
- 5Repair the fault and check that the code does not come back
Symptoms you may notice3
- The engine misfires
- The engine is hard to start
- The starter motor does not turn
