What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) is meant to receive 15 supply, meaning voltage from the ignition, through the system relay and the central electronic module (CEM). The code is set when the control module cannot register that supply at start, or when the supply is missing. The fault may be poor contact, a fault in the system relay or an open circuit in the supply wire.
Possible causes
- Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- System relay fault
- Open circuit in the voltage supply wire
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and check whether it returns when the ignition is switched on
- 2With the ignition on, check that battery voltage reaches the control module; use a multimeter between the supply and ground
- 3Check the control module connector for contact resistance, loose fit and oxidation
- 4Check the voltage supply wire for an open circuit with a multimeter
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the system relay and the central electronic module
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine does not start
- A message appears in the text display
