What does this fault code mean?
The code is set in the engine control module (ECM) because it registers a signal from the brake pedal sensor that is too high, but the fault originates in the brake control module (BCM). The code is therefore a consequence of that fault. Remedy the codes in the brake control module first, and clear this code only once they have been fixed and erased.
Possible causes
- The fault lies in the brake control module (BCM) or the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the codes stored in the BCM and the CEM first
- 2Trace and remedy the codes there before dealing with this one
- 3Clear this code only after the fault in the brake control module has been remedied and erased
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the stop lamp switch status in live data while you press and release the brake pedal; the status should change between off and on
- 5The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out the brake-related checks you cannot do yourself
Symptoms you may notice3
- Cruise control will not engage
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- Cruise control does not work at all
What the fault can affect1
- Cruise control is switched off
