What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) runs internal tests on its processor, software and memory. The code is set if one of these tests finds a fault in the group called signal 10. While the fault is active the throttle follows the accelerator pedal directly, and the cruise control cannot be used during that driving cycle. The fault may lie in the control module itself.
Possible causes
- Defective engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read the code status and see whether other codes are stored in the same readout
- 2If the fault is no longer present when the code is read again, the fault has been intermittent
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the control module and program it, since a new control module is supplied without software
Symptoms you may notice4
- The malfunction indicator light is on
- The engine misfires
- Cruise control does not work
- Poor response from the accelerator pedal
What the fault can affect3
- Idle may feel very uneven, because engine speed is controlled by cutting fuel to the cylinders one at a time
- The throttle follows the accelerator pedal position directly
- Cruise control is switched off during the driving cycle in which the fault was detected
