What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) controls the throttle unit motor with a PWM signal and monitors it. If the signal is registered as defective, specifically too low, the code is set. The cause can be a signal cable short-circuited to ground or a damaged throttle unit.
Possible causes
- The signal cable is short-circuited to ground
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Check the connector at the throttle unit: it should be firmly seated and free of corrosion and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable has no contact with ground (the body)
- 3Erase the fault code and test drive to see whether it returns. If it does, the throttle unit is probably damaged and should be replaced by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- The car's performance is reduced
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque is limited
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
