What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the throttle unit. If the ECM detects that the throttle binds or jams when it is driven to open or close, the code is set. The cause can be that the throttle in the unit binds or has jammed, or that the unit is damaged.
Possible causes
- The throttle in the throttle unit binds or has jammed
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the throttle is not blocked by any object and has not stuck. Clean it if necessary
- 2Check the connector at the throttle unit for loose connections, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the throttle unit and check that it gives a ticking sound when activated and then switches off automatically
- 4Erase the code and test drive. If it comes back and nothing else is found, the throttle unit is probably damaged and a workshop should replace it
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine produces less power than normal
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque is limited
