What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates an intermittent internal fault in the engine control module (ECM). This means the fault was registered at an earlier time but is no longer present. The fault is therefore not present at the moment, and how often the code returns decides what should be done.
Possible causes
- Defective engine control module
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes and note whether this code is still there after a test drive or has disappeared
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the frozen values and counters to see when the fault was registered and how often it has occurred
- 3Erase the fault code and test drive. If it returns, have a workshop check the engine control module, as it may then be defective
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control module does not use the signal from position sensor 1 in the throttle unit
