What does this fault code mean?
The throttle unit (ETM) has registered that the battery voltage was too low. Although the code is named too high supply voltage, it refers to low voltage at the throttle unit. The cause can be an inadequate supply, poor connections, or a charging system that does not work correctly.
Possible causes
- Inadequate power supply to the throttle unit
- Loose plugs, or contact resistance in the plug connections
- Poorly charged battery or corroded battery cables
- Defective generator or charge regulator
What you can do
- 1Read the frozen values to see when it happened and whether the engine ran. If only the throttle unit saw low voltage, look for a fault in its supply.
- 2Check that the connectors to the throttle unit are firmly seated and that it has power and earth connections
- 3Check the battery charge and the battery cable connections for corrosion and contact resistance
- 4If voltage was too low or high in both the ECM and the throttle unit while the engine ran, the generator or regulator may be damaged. Have a workshop check it.
- 5Erase the codes and reset: ignition off for three minutes, on and off again, then three more. Add two minutes if the cooling fan has been running.
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
