What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) works out the gear in use from engine speed and vehicle speed. If it detects more than five gear changes in the same driving cycle while the clutch pedal has hardly moved, the code is set. The cause can be a defective clutch pedal sensor.
Possible causes
- Defective clutch pedal sensor
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes in the engine control module. If fault code ECM-9300 is stored, troubleshoot it first
- 2Check that the clutch pedal sensor is correctly fitted and working, and that nothing restricts the pedal movement
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the clutch pedal value in live data, pedal released versus the car just starting to move in drive. The values should differ clearly.
- 4Erase the fault code and test drive. If it returns, have a workshop check the clutch pedal sensor and its connection
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine lamp lights
