What does this fault code mean?
The ECM has detected an internal fault in its built-in amplifier for the signal from potentiometer 1 of the throttle position sensor. It is found when the ECM tries to adapt the throttle unit, and the cause is a damaged ECM.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes and deal with any that are stored. The code concerns the ECM's own amplifier, so the ECM is the part under suspicion
- 2Check that the connectors at the ECM and the throttle unit are secure and free from corrosion
- 3If the code comes back after this, the ECM is damaged and needs replacing. This is a workshop job, as the new unit must be programmed
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The signal from potentiometer 1 (circuit 1) of the throttle position sensor is ignored by the ECM
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
