What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns a clutch pedal sensor signal that is too low. The ECM receives information from the sensor and sets the code when it detects a fault in that signal. The fault may lie in the sensor, the wiring or the connectors, and the cruise control is switched off.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault status with a diagnostic tool. It shows whether the fault is permanent or intermittent, and whether other codes are also stored
- 2If the status is wrong, make sure the clutch pedal sensor is properly fitted and adjusted
- 3With the ignition off: disconnect the connector at the ECM and use a multimeter to check that the signal cable has no contact with ground (body)
- 4Check the battery condition and charge
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the clutch pedal sensor signal follows the pedal. A value that stays low points to a fault
- 6If upgraded software from 2006 or later exists for the car, it may be the solution. A workshop can load it
Symptoms you may notice4
- ETS warning lamp lights
- Cruise control does not function at all
- Switch to gas drive is not possible
- Message in the information display
What the fault can affect1
- Cruise control is off for the driving cycle in which the fault was detected
