What does this fault code mean?
Clutch pedal position reaches the ECM through a sensor and a separate switch. The code is set when the ECM detects that the position sensor signal is faulty. The fault may lie in the sensor, the switch, the connectors or the wiring.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal cable from the position sensor
- Clutch pedal switch incorrectly fitted
- Clutch pedal position sensor incorrectly fitted
- Damaged clutch pedal switch
- Damaged clutch pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are in the handbook or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check the clutch pedal switch and position sensor: are they correctly fitted, and are the connectors secure without oxidation or contact resistance
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable from the position sensor has no open circuit
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the clutch pedal position in live data while the clutch is pressed and released. The value should follow the pedal
- 5If the sensor or connector is damaged, have a workshop replace it. The new part must also be fitted and adjusted correctly
Symptoms you may notice1
- Starting with autostart does not work
