What does this fault code mean?

The ECM detects a problem in the analog accelerator pedal sensor signal, with the signal too high. The fault may be a signal cable shorted to supply voltage or a damaged sensor. The accelerator pedal can then be disabled when the brake is pressed.

    Possible causes

    • Signal cable shorted to supply voltage
    • Damaged accelerator pedal sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Check the accelerator pedal sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation, and that it is secure
    2. 2With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal cable from the accelerator pedal sensor is not shorted to supply voltage
    3. 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the accelerator pedal movement in live data while the pedal is pressed slowly and released. The value should follow the pedal
    4. 4Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are in the handbook or on the fuse box cover
    5. 5If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the accelerator pedal sensor. The accelerator can be disabled when the brake is pressed, so do not keep driving with the fault

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • Poor accelerator pedal response

    What the fault can affect1

    • The accelerator pedal is disabled when the brake is pressed

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
