What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the analog signal from the accelerator pedal sensor, which is too low. The ECM sets it when it registers the fault. The cause may be contact resistance, a broken ground lead, a short to ground, or a damaged sensor. The accelerator pedal can be disabled when the brake is pressed.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the ECM and accelerator sensor connections
- Broken ground lead for the analog signal
- Broken wire, or a short to ground, in the signal cable
- Damaged accelerator pedal sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the accelerator pedal sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation, and that it is secure
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the analog ground lead and signal cable from the sensor have no break and are not shorted to ground
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the accelerator pedal movement in live data while the pedal is pressed slowly and released. The value should follow the pedal
- 4Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are in the handbook or on the fuse box cover
- 5The accelerator can be disabled when the brake is pressed, which is a safety matter. Have a workshop check the fault at once and do not keep driving with it
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor accelerator pedal response
What the fault can affect1
- The accelerator pedal is disabled when the brake is pressed
