What does this fault code mean?
The ECM notices a problem with the digital signal of the accelerator pedal sensor, which reads too low. The fault may lie in the connections between the sensor and the ECM, in a signal wire shorted to ground, or in the sensor. The accelerator pedal can then be disabled when the brake is pressed.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the connections between the ECM and the sensor
- Open circuit, or short to ground, in the signal wire
- Damaged accelerator pedal sensor
What you can do
- 1Start the engine and read the accelerator pedal movement in live data. The value should follow the pedal as it is pressed and released
- 2Check the connections between the accelerator pedal sensor and the ECM: are they secure, and is there contact resistance or oxidation
- 3With a diagnostic tool, check the accelerator value in live data while the pedal is pressed slowly and released. It should follow the pedal
- 4Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are in the handbook or on the fuse box cover
- 5If nothing is found and the fault is permanent, a workshop should replace the sensor. The accelerator can be disabled when braking, so do not drive with the fault
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor accelerator pedal response
What the fault can affect1
- The accelerator pedal is disabled when the brake is pressed
