What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the PWM signal from the accelerator pedal sensor with the values it calculates from the analogue signal, which reaches the ECM via the central electronics module (CEM) over the CAN network. If the PWM signal does not match the calculated values, the code is set.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage between the pedal sensor and the engine control module
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
- Play, contact resistance or oxidation in the connections between the pedal sensor and the engine control module
- Open circuit or short to ground in the signal wire
- Low battery voltage
What you can do
- 1Check the fuse that supplies the accelerator pedal sensor
- 2With the ignition on, use a multimeter to check that the supply voltage to the pedal sensor is correct
- 3Check the connectors and wiring between the pedal sensor and the engine control module for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 4With a multimeter, check that the signal wire has no break and is not shorted to ground or supply voltage
- 5If nothing is found and the code returns after clearing and a test drive, have a workshop replace the pedal sensor
