What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the PWM signal from the accelerator pedal sensor with the analogue signal, which reaches the ECM via the central electronics module (CEM) over the CAN network. If the analogue signal is faulty or implausible, or the PWM signal does not agree with the values calculated, the code is set.
Possible causes
- Troubleshoot the central electronics module (CEM) first
- Look for the cause in the CAN network
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections to the pedal sensor
- Supply voltage or signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Open circuit or short to ground in the signal wire
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1First read out and fix the fault codes in the central electronics module (CEM). Only then can this code be cleared
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, check whether a communication fault code for the CAN network is also stored, and fix it
- 3Check the pedal sensor connector and the wiring for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Check the connections at the engine control module and the pedal sensor for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 5With a multimeter between the signal wire and ground while the pedal moves, check that the values follow the movement without interruptions
Symptoms you may notice5
- Text message in the information display
- Poor accelerator pedal response
- Automatic start and stop does not work
- Autostart does not work when starting
- Engine stumbles, surges or runs unevenly at steady speed
What the fault can affect1
- Engine power is limited
