What does this fault code mean?
The ECM has registered an internal fault. The fault means that the normal engine control functions request more torque than is reasonable at most, and the code is then set. Engine torque is limited to a calculated reasonable value, which makes performance worse.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and test drive the car. If the code returns, the engine control module is faulty and must be replaced
- 2An internal fault in the engine control module is not something wiring and connectors can fix. Replacement is a workshop task
- 3For a permanent fault, the engine control module (ECM) is replaced. A workshop does the replacement and the programming that is needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine performance is reduced
What the fault can affect1
- The requested torque is limited to a calculated reasonable value
