What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates that the digital signal from the accelerator pedal sensor is higher than expected. The ECM compares the base frequency of the signal with preset values, and if it deviates the code is set. The code gives no noticeable symptoms for the driver.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections between the engine control module and the pedal sensor
- Open circuit, or short to ground or supply voltage, on the signal wire
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, check the connections at the pedal sensor and the ECM for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2With a multimeter, check that the signal wire from the pedal sensor has no open circuit and is not shorted to ground or supply voltage
- 3If the fault is permanent and nothing is found in the connectors or wiring, a workshop should replace the pedal sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
