What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates that the digital signal from the accelerator pedal sensor is lower than expected. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the base frequency of the signal, and when it deviates from the preset values the code is stored. The code gives no noticeable symptoms for the driver.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections between the ECM and the pedal sensor
- Open circuit, or short to ground or supply voltage, on the signal wire
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the connectors at the pedal sensor and the ECM for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2With a multimeter, check that the signal wire is intact and not shorted to ground or supply voltage
- 3If nothing is found and the fault stays permanent, the pedal sensor may need replacing, which a workshop should do
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
