What does this fault code mean?
The throttle may have stuck in the open position so that it cannot be closed. The engine control module (ECM) registers this and stores the code, because the brake vacuum is then affected negatively. More codes are often stored at the same time.
Possible causes
- Object blocking the throttle plate, such as an oil film or dust
- Supply voltage to the throttle module
- Damaged throttle
What you can do
- 1Other fault codes are probably stored in the engine control module. Fix them first
- 2Check that the throttle moves freely and that the throttle plate is not blocked by an oil film or dust
- 3With the ignition on, check the supply voltage to the throttle module
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: check the throttle module's ranking values. High values mean the code is close to being set
- 5After repair: clear the code and test drive the car to check that the throttle moves normally and that the code does not come back
Symptoms you may notice3
- Poorer braking performance
- Message in the information display
- Maximum vehicle speed is reduced
What the fault can affect1
- Maximum vehicle speed is limited
