What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the calculated load signal with the value its internal monitoring works out. If the load signal is lower than expected, the code is set. The fault can also lie in the module itself.
Possible causes
- Contamination in the throttle module
- Foreign objects in the intake ducts
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1The code can be a follow-on fault from foreign objects in the intake ducts or contamination in the throttle module. Check this first and fix it
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the load signal in live data at idle and when pressing the throttle, and check that it follows engine load
- 3If no contamination or objects are found and the fault remains, the engine control module may be damaged, and a workshop should decide whether it needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice4
- Low maximum engine speed
- Cruise control does not work at all
- Uneven idle
- Malfunction indicator lamp lit
What the fault can affect1
- Engine speed and torque are limited to a calculated reasonable value
