What does this fault code mean?
Normal engine control reads the throttle position sensor signals as beyond their lower or upper limits, whereas the internal monitoring interprets them otherwise. The code is then set.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the throttle position value in live data while the pedal is pressed and released, and see whether it follows the movement
- 2Clear the code and test drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 3For a permanent fault the engine control module is replaced, which a workshop does

- Low maximum engine speed
- Cruise control does not work at all
- Uneven idle
- Malfunction indicator lamp lit

- Engine speed and torque are limited to a calculated reasonable value
