What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module takes its vehicle configuration from the central electronic module (CEM), which keeps the number of software versions down. The code is set when the engine control module finds that a parameter sent by the CEM is incorrect. This typically happens when a control module or function has been added or removed without the configuration being updated, and a default value is then used for the faulty parameter.
Possible causes
- A control module or function has been added to or removed from the vehicle without the configuration being updated
What you can do
- 1Consider whether a control module or function has recently been replaced, added or removed on the car; that is the most likely cause of this code
- 2Clear the code once the change has been made correctly and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3If something has been changed on the car, have a workshop update the vehicle configuration, since this requires programming
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- A default value is used for the faulty parameter
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
