What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has registered that the speed signal is too high and sends a fault message to the engine control module, which then sets the code. The code therefore shows that the signal from the brake control module is faulty, and the fault most likely sits in a module other than the engine control module.
Possible causes
- The brake control module receives a faulty speed signal
What you can do
- 1Fault-trace from the module that sends the signal, which is the brake control module (BCM); the engine control module only reports the fault
- 2Read the fault codes in the brake control module and deal with them first; this code cannot be cleared until the root fault is remedied and its code cleared
- 3Check the connectors and wiring of the CAN network for open circuits, short circuits and chafing
- 4The brake control module is safety-critical, so do not work on it yourself; have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
What the fault can affect1
- The brake control module's speed signal is replaced by a fixed value
