What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the CAN communication with the additive dosage module. The code is set when that communication fails, or when the ADM asks for the information lamp to light together with a text message. The fault may therefore lie in the ADM or in the CAN communication.
Possible causes
- CAN-related fault codes are stored in the central electronic module (CEM)
- The ADM has its own stored fault codes
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the ADM first, then in the central electronic module (CEM)
- 2Remedy the faults in the ADM and the CAN-related codes in the CEM; this code cannot be cleared until they have been remedied and cleared
- 3Check the connectors and CAN wiring to the ADM for open circuits and chafing
- 4Clear the fault code once the faults are remedied and road test the car to see whether it returns
