ECM-A620 - Additive dosage module (ADM). Faulty signal
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The module has been told that the additive dosed into the main fuel tank is too small to make sure soot in the particle trap burns off completely. The code can also be set when the module cannot communicate with the ADM. The fault may therefore lie in the ADM or in the CAN communication.
Possible causes
- Fault codes are set in the additive dosage module (ADM)
- CAN-related fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the ADM fault codes first, then the CEM codes, and note which are stored
- 2Remedy the ADM faults and the CAN-related codes in the CEM first; this code is cleared once they are remedied and erased
- 3Check that the ADM connectors and CAN wires are fully seated and free from oxidation, and look for chafing in the harness
- 4Clear the fault code once the faults are remedied and road test the car to see whether it returns
